NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State baseball defeated Southern Illinois on Saturday from Duffy Bass Field by a 7-1 scoreline, securing their second straight series victory over the Salukis.
Illinois State (23-22 overall, 11-9 MVC) was led by three hits from senior Auggie Rasmussen while junior Noah Rabin tallied three RBIs on the day to lead the 'Birds.
Southern Illinois drops to 26-21 overall and 9-11 in the MVC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Illinois State scored first with a solo home run by Rabin in the 2nd, the junior's 12th long ball of 2024.
The Salukis would knot the score at 1-1 in the top of the 3rd with a sac fly.
Illinois State erupted for three runs off four straight hits in the 4th to make it 4-1 with an RBI double from sophomore Shai Robinson and a pair of RBI singles from junior JT Sokolove and sophomore Luke Lawrence.
The Redbirds added one in the 5th, 7th, and 8th innings to build the lead out to 7-1.

- Lawrence's on-base streak moves to 31 games with an RBI single in the 4th.
- Junior Tanner Perry got the win, throwing 7.0 innings with four strikeouts and one run allowed.
